One thing that everyone aims for is success. The definition of success varies from person to person. One may say that success is having their own family, another would say having their own car and home would make them successful. Whatever your status in life is or no matter what age you have, you want to be successful.

Today, books and articles on how to be successful is readily available to everyone. Each inspires us with ways on how to achieve our goals. Here are 13 tips from well-known personalities who can guide us for our road to success:

1) Think Big to be Big

“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.” – Michelangelo Buonarroti

Make your dreams a high as the clouds, as wide as the sea, and as vast as the universe. Bigger dreams mean bigger plans. Do not be afraid to dream big because that would be the foundation of your bigger dreams to come.

2) Find your passion

“You know you are on the road to success if you would do your job, and not be paid for it.” – Oprah Winfrey

The happiness you feel in doing what you love cannot be bought by any gold in this world. Find your passion and pursue it.

3) Balance is the Key

There is an immutable conflict at work in life and in business, a constant battle between peace and chaos. Neither can be mastered, but both can be influences. How you go about that is the key to success.” – Phil Knight, CEO of Nike Inc.

Learn how to balance everything in your life. Learn to have time for your family, friends, and work. A balanced life is a happy life.

4) Failure is Success

“Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.” – Henry Ford, Founder of Ford Motors

Do not be afraid of failures. It is merely a part of the process to success. Failures let us know mistakes, and give us opportunity to make up with those mistakes. Failure will be the first step to success.

5) Keep Resolutions to Succeed

“I made a resolve then that I was going to amount to something if I could. And no hours, nor amount of labor, nor amount of money would deter me from giving the best that there was in me. And I have done that ever since, and I win by it. I know.” – Colonel Sanders, Founder of KFC

A good motivation should start from within. Make your motivation to success something that would drive you to never give up on being successful. Let it be your inspiration and everyday mantra.

6) Act for It.

“It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.” – Leonardo da Vinci

Successful people are a man of action. They do not sit back and wait for opportunities to find them because they perfectly know that success should be worked hard for. They chase the opportunity and make sure they do things to make it happen. So, stop being a couch potato and start working for your goals.

7) Avoid Conflicts

“The most important single ingredient in the formula of success is knowing how to get along with people.” – Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of America

Good camaraderie is an ingredient to success. Start building friendships with different kinds of people. Having connections to various people can be useful one way or another.

8) Offer Fresh Ideas

“A person with a new idea is a crank until the idea succeeds.” – Mark Twain

Don’t be afraid of introducing new ideas. Think outside the box and let the world know about it. Offer them your craziest, boldest, out of this world ideas until your ideas becomes a success.

9) Turn Your “Can’t” into “Cans”

“If you can dream it, you can do it.” – Walter Disney, Founder of Walt Disney Company

Believe in yourself and your capacity to succeed. Have the mindset that you can do it whatever will happen. Believe you can.

10) Think Positive

“Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goals; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.” – Thomas Jefferson, 3rd President of America

This goes along with the previous one. A positive disposition can help you faced more trials and achieve your goals faster. Believe in yourself. Believe to achieve. Remember that the power of the mind works in wonderful ways.

11) Don’t Be Affected with the Negative

“Let no feeling of discouragement prey upon you, and in the end you are sure to succeed.” – Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of America

The path to success will be winding and long. You’ll meet a lot of challenges and people that would tear you down. Do not be affected by them. Don’t you let discouragement stop you from pushing through.

12) Work Hard

“Unless you are willing to drench yourself in your work beyond the capacity of the average man, you are just not cut out for positions at the top.” – JC Penny, Founder of JC Penny Inc.

No one would achieve his goals while lying in bed all day. No one would get a job waiting for it to fall from the sky. Learn to work hard. Achieving success from your own sweat is better than doing nothing.

13) Trust your Guts

“Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” – Steve Jobs, Co-founder of Apple Inc.

Trust your instinct. Trust your intuition. Trust whatever you want to trust as long as it’s you. We are given that so that we can make our own decisions. Live life according to your will, not someone else’s rules. Stop living in the shadow of someone else’s thinking.
