road safety tips

Dennis Gregory, NegosentroOwning and driving your very own car is much more than just putting the key in the ignition, starting your car, flooring the pedal, and getting to your destination in the comfort of your own vehicle. It’s just as important, if not more, to practice road safety when you’re out and about with your vehicle in order to avoid unfortunate circumstances such as accidents – which can affect you just as much as the other motorists and infrastructures around you.

Car accidents have varying reasons for their occurrences. Some of the most common reasons include accidental vehicle failures, drunk driving, road rage, negligence in terms of following safety regulations and road signs, and unforeseen circumstances. The repercussions can range from minor damages such as car dents or scratches to major issues such as total vehicle destruction, damage to property, and even vehicular manslaughter.

As of May 2017, the World Health Organization reported that about 1.25 million people die each year as a result of road traffic crashes. It is the leading cause of death among people aged 15 and 29 years, and if not prevented, it can be the seventh leading cause of death by 2030.

These statistics, however, can be lowered if we all practice road safety to make sure that we, and our fellow drivers, are safe on the road.
