I am on the internet 24/7. I love going through my social media feeds. Imagine how excited I was when I found out about online freelancing and that I can earn extra money online without having to leave the comforts of my home – the internet – and having the flexibility of working where I want and when I want to.

But of course, like any other job, freelance work has also its disadvantage, and one of which was the incredibly challenging way to cashout the money I earned. I looked through forums and tried different ways to cash out but none of them compared to the joy I found when I tried cashing out through the UnionBank EON Visa Debit Card! IT WAS A LIFESAVER! Registration was such a breeze and THERE ARE NO FEES for PayPal withdrawals.

Applying for an EON

You can apply for your EON account through UnionBank’s website. Within minutes, you will receive an email and an SMS – so make sure you put your valid email and mobile number – containing your reference number. Bring that reference number and 2 valid IDs to your selected branch. Since I applied online at night, I could only visit the branch the next morning. In the branch, be ready with your reference number, your valid IDs and at least P500. Three hundred fifty pesos serves as payment for your first annual fee and P150 is for your deposit. Trust me on this. You’ll need at least P150 to link your PayPal account to your EON. Don’t worry, this is a temporary charge and Paypal will return this once your account is verified.  Of course you can put more into your account if you want to use your funds through your card J I also made sure that the valid IDs I brought with me had a picture and my signature just to make it easier for the branch to confirm my identity. Within 30 minutes, I walked out of the branch with my card on hand!

Linking my EON card to my Paypal account

When I got all of the things I needed, I linked my EON card to my PayPal account. It wasn’t that complicated too. Out of sheer happiness, I am sharing with you exactly how easy it is to link your EON to your PayPal account.

Step 1: Log in to your Paypal account, click on the Summary tab, “Bank and Cards” and select “Link a Card.”

Step 2: Add card details. REMEMBER that the name on your PayPal account should match the name on your EON account. Click “Add Card.”

Step 3: Click the “Confirm My Card” link.

Step 4: Click “Continue.” This is where your P150 deposit is needed. PayPal temporarily charges $1.00 – which is around P48 now – and P100 to verify your account. Again, don’t worry, Paypal will return the $1.00 immediately and the P100 around 2 to 3 days after.

After I linked by account, I tried to test out their withdrawal system to see if it was how it was advertised and to my surprise, it was really fast. It only took me five days before I was able to receive my earnings. I was really pleased that the whole process was hassle free.

I have been working as a freelancer for almost 3 years now, and I have been enjoying the benefits of the reliability of my EON card. I rarely use the ATM now because I use my EON in the grocery, when I eat out or have a night out. I even use my EON card to do online shopping and pay bills through UMobile. What a convenience!
