Can CBD Oil Really Help With Pain? Back Pain

Can CBD Oil Really Help With Pain? |  Though many plants contain cannabinoids, CBD is one of the 100 compounds found in cannabis. Our bodies have an endocannabinoid system (ECS), which obtains and converts signals from cannabinoids. Our ECS helps to regulate everyday functions, like pain, sleep, and immune-system response.

CBD also increases the amount of anandamide in the body, a compound associated with pain regulation and mood improvement.

Full spectrum CBD does not produce the same high that THC does. THC produces a chemical high that mimics the body’s brain reward system. But CBD can alleviate pain without the effects that THC has.

Some forms of full-spectrum CBD oil do contain traces of THC but are highly unlikely to have mind-altering effects.

Pain Relief

The NCCIH suggests that CBD oil has fair benefits for chronic pain, and other research suggests that it is a promising option for the relief of chronic pain. Based on the most recent research, I’ve included the possible benefits of CBD oil.

Arthritis Pain

In a 2016 study using rats, researchers applied a topical form of CBD to the animals suffering from arthritis for four straight days. There was a significant drop in inflammation in the rats and no negative side effects from the oil. Though more research may need to be done, people have responded favorably to the use of CBD oil for arthritis pain.

Neuropathic Pain

Damage to the nerves can cause this type of pain. It is fairly common in instances such as multiple sclerosis or shingles. Herniated discs can also cause painful nerve pain.

A 2017 study found that CBD oil helped alleviate the pain caused by chronic neuropathy. The research looked into the positive effects of CBD on pain. More research may be needed to understand the benefits completely, but CBD’s ability to manage pain seems effective.

Multiple Sclerosis Pain

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune condition that can be debilitating, affecting the entire body. Nerve pain and muscle spasms are two of the most common symptoms of MS. Often the spasms can be so bad they cause constant pain. It’s been found that the short-term effects of using CBD oil can greatly reduce the pain caused by muscle spasms.

Pain From Chemotherapy

Reports have shown that both CBD and THC are very helpful for controlling nausea and vomiting often caused by chemotherapy. It can also help with nerve pain, depression, anxiety, and insomnia caused by cancer treatments.

 Chronic Pain

Unfortunately, millions of Americans deal with chronic pain. Multiple systematic pain has been treated in several patients using CBD oil. Research shows that there is proven evidence that cannabis is very effective for the treatment of chronic pain. CBD oil is a natural anti-inflammatory, and most people do not build up a tolerance to it over time, so there is no need to increase the dosage.

Examples of Chronic Pain Include:

  • lower back pain
  • migraines and headaches
  • fibromyalgia

Conclusion

No one should have to suffer from pain. CBD oil is natural and offers a promising future when it comes to pain relief.
