Central Luzon Dangerous Drug Abuse Summit: Early Wins on War Against Drugs | Manila, Philippines – In the context of public health and to limit the harm to people who are affected by drug use and dependence, their families, and the rest of the community, it is upon the Department of Health (DOH) and its partner agencies to come up with strategies to address the high influx of drug users who surrendered and help in the process of rehabilitation and reintegration back to society.
To further strengthen strategies and extend the networks of stakeholders and partners, the Department of Health – Regional Office 3 organizes the Central Luzon Dangerous Drug Abuse Summit: Early Wins on War Against Drugs. Best practices and initiatives done within and outside the region will be presented to foster learning across political boundaries.
In addition, it will also strengthen technical and managerial capability as the local level; therefore, improving health services. Updates on the Dangerous Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment Program (DDAPTP) will be discussed for the effective alignment of programs and implementation at the grassroots level.
Currently, as an update on the service delivery of the Mega Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DATRC) in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija, we have 127 residents being catered as in-patients; most of them were from Nueva Ecija and Bulacan. Group-dynamic activities, psycho-educational lectures, and mindfulness meditations are some of the rehabilitative services presently offered.
We want to help every client to live a drug-free life and transform him/her into a productive member of the community; to help client reconnect with his/her family and the society; and of course, to help reduce the prevalence of substance abuse disorder and its health-related effects.
Hence, we want to convene other potential stakeholders and partners in our fight against dangerous drug use as this is one of the priorities in achieving “All for Health, Towards Health for All”.
