“How rich is Anne Curtis?”

This was the direct question tossed to the 29-year-old actress during her live guesting on “Aquino & Abunda Tonight” on Monday (March 24, 2014), just hours after her new TV series “Dyesebel” premiered on ABS-CBN.

Curtis initially laughed at the question from co-host Kris Aquino, but answered after appearing to gather her thoughts: “Rich in love! Puwedeng gano’n na lang? Rich in love!”

While she avoided answering directly, Curtis admitted being “kuripot” (stingy), saying 80 to 90 percent of what she earns goes to her savings.

“I work hard, I save,” she said.

With a career spanning 17 years, Curtis is one of the most visible actresses today. She regularly stars in movies, on top of daily exposure on television via noontime show “It’s Showtime,” and the latest, “Dyesebel.”

Though a self-confessed “non-singer,” Curtis is also a recording artist with a platinum-status album and a successful concert series to her name.

The Filipina-Australian star is also considered as one of the Philippines’ top celebrity endorsers, reportedly with over 25 products or brands attached to her name in 2013 alone.

Asked how she learned to save, Curtis said, “Sa guardian ko dito, si Mama Betchay, and also my mom, my dad. My mom’s kuripot, Ilokana! So doon ko talaga natutunan ‘yung mga bagay na ‘yon.”

Citing a pair of earrings, her house, and a car as the most expensive things she has bought for herself, Curtis said she is only generous with money after she has reached a target for the year.

“Pag tinging ko naman, naabot ko na ‘yung quota ko for this year — meron po [akong target] — tsaka ko lang bibigyan ng treat ‘yung sarili ko,” she said.
