Negosentro.com | The Medical City (TMC) introduces Mircowave Ablation (MWA), a new technology that destroys tumors using heat generated by microwave energy. The MWA machine was acquired by TMC in January 2017. To date, TMC has done several MWA cases for liver, lung and kidney cancers. The advantages of MWA over other ablative techniques include the ability to treat larger tumors, faster procedure time, expanded treatment area including areas close to major arteries and veins, shorter hospital stay and lower recurrence rates.

The launch of TMC’s Microwave Ablation machine dubbed “Plug and Play: A User-Friendly Approach to Tumor Ablation” was held on June 5, 2017 at the Augusto Barcelon auditorium of The Medical City Main in Ortigas, Pasig City. Dr. Manesh Tajeda, a specialist in Interventional Radiology and Interventional Neuroradiology at Raffles Hospital, Singapore, was the guest speaker.

After the launch, Dr. Jolly Jason Catibog, head of the Vascular and Interventional Radiology Section of TMC Radiology Department, performed the MWA procedure to a patient with liver tumor at the CT Suite, under the proctorship of Dr. Taneja and Interventional Radiologist Dr. Santos-Ocampo.

Ask your doctor about it or call the Center for Liver Disease Management and Transplantation at 9881000 ext. 6506 for inquiries about Microwave Ablation.
