SCPA Hiigene Grants

Negosentro | Payruler, Mayani, Eskwelabs Awarded SCPA HIIGENE Grants | Sanitary Care Products Asia (SCPA), a hygiene products firm celebrating its 25th anniversary, invest in local companies to continue its decades-long philosophy of putting people first. They developed the Human Investment x Impact Grant for Entrepreneurship and Empowerment, or the HIIGENE Program, in collaboration with the Asian Institute of Management-Dado Banatao Incubator (AIM-DBI).

As the first collaboration between a local enterprise and a business incubator, the HIIGENE Program paved the way. It was created as part of the Sio family’s desire to encourage local businesses by infusing human investment into the company’s DNA. SCPA hopes that by doing so, it will be able to contribute to the development of a people-first industry, enhance the economy, and better the lives of many people.

SCPA officials, members of the academe, and members of the corporate industry conducted a rigorous selection process for qualified entrepreneurs from the AIM-DBI pool. Before being whittled down to five finalists, 11 startups presented their ideas, mission, and future plans in a pitch presentation.

The selection committee stated that picking from these five was a difficult challenge because they have all demonstrated that they are deserving of the money. That is why, on June 24, not one, but three businesses were named winners at the awards ceremony. The three winners, Payruler, a human resource management business, Eskwelabs, an edu-tech firm for data skills education, and Mayani, an agri-technology platform, were eventually announced by SCPA Chairman and Founder Renato Sio and SCPA President and CEO Ven Sio.

The three enterprises will get equity-free cash incentives of up to Php 500,000 apiece to assist them to build and sustain their businesses. Not only that, but they’ll also take part in a 6-session mentorship program with SCPA officials from July through September. To inspire their organization’s practices, the HIIGENE curriculum includes enrichment themes based on real-life experiences such as defining the corporate purpose, strategies, operations, finance, sales and marketing, and people management. Finally, SCPA chose to provide mentorship to individuals who did not make the cut, ensuring that everyone benefits.

The AIM-DBI milestone monitoring program will keep track of the three winners’ growth and achievements. These will be given out at the SCPA’s silver anniversary celebration, which will take place in October.
