Now in its second year of partnership, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and JobStreet.com has brought to Filipinos yet another milestone dedicated to aspiring Overseas Filipino Workers.
In March, POEA and JobStreet.com launched the “Maging Matalino, Huwag Magpaloko” video – a partnership project intended to help aspiring OFWs be smarter when choosing jobs overseas and avoid illegal recruitment. This video will be shown in all Pre-Employment Orientation Seminars (PEOS) nationwide. PEOS is a training program conducted by POEA for all new overseas candidates. The program aims to raise awareness among these overseas job intenders on the benefits, realities and requirements of working overseas. It wants to increase awareness on the legal way of applying for overseas work and, hence, decrease incidence of illegal recruitment.

The video follows the story of Rommel Ignacio, a mechanic who narrates his OFW journey from his job application, the documentation process, to getting hired. It also highlights the correct way to apply for overseas work.
Currently, PEOS is being conducted face to face on a daily basis, training close to 100,000 overseas candidates yearly using the current method. With the help of this video, POEA and JobStreet.com aim to reach more OFW intenders by making it available online – allowing access anytime, anywhere.
The partnership of JobStreet.com and POEA has come a long way from its beginnings in 2013. The partnership has produced co-branded Anti-Illegal Recruitment (AIR) materials such as co-branded posters and flyers, print ads, and co-branded Electronic Direct Mail (EDMs) targeted to overseas candidates and POEA-licensed agencies. Soon to be launched is PEOS Online, an interactive website where overseas candidates can go through the PEOS orientation without having to spend money going to seminars conducted at the POEA office in Manila or during various provincial caravans.
