According to OPPO, more than one-third of the world’s 7 billion population own a smartphone. It is estimated that in less than 4 years that 90 percent of everyone on earth will own a smartphone.

Mobile phone makers are always coming up with new devices to meet the evolving needs of consumers. Every few months, a phone maker will have a new flagship device on the market, offering an upgrade in features.

As we approach the end of the year, phone buyers have plenty of flagship choices. These are the top picks for 2019.

1. Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus

The South Korean electronics manufacturer is one of the brands that has not missed the chance to release a new flagship device each year. The Galaxy S10 Plus was released in March 2019. It is a large phone with a 6.4″ AMOLED display that comes with an in-screen fingerprint scanner.

It comes with three rear cameras; a 16MP Ultra Wide-Angle, 12MP Dual Aperture, and 12MP Telephoto. The 4,100 mAh battery is an improvement from the S9, and the memory can be expanded up to 1.5GB.

2. OnePlus 7 Pro

The OnePlus 7 Pro makes this list due to its affordability. Considering the features it offers, the device could have easily cost more. A pop-up front camera allowed OnePlus to design an all-screen display. The front camera pops out when you turn on the shooter mode. A 90Hz-display gives the device exceptional quality and fluid viewing. It is also incredibly fast. The rear camera is a three-piece setup. A 4,000 mAh battery allows you to enjoy phone usage for a decent while. However, the device doesn’t offer wireless charging or come with an IP rating, unlike other products of the same class.

3. Huawei P30 Pro

The P30 Pro is lauded as the best flagship yet from Huawei.

It is built for impressive photography. The cameras are incorporated with an excellent low light performance setting that improves picture taking. As with many 2019 flagships, the rear camera of the P30 is a triple threat. It also has 10x zoom capabilities.

This device combines features from the Mate 20 Pro and P20 Pro to give users a little bit of everything. The screen is easy on the eyes with an in-built finger scanner for better security. Huawei’s P30 Pro is on the same price point as the Galaxy S10 Plus.

4. Google Pixel 3

For a budget-friendly phone, Google Pixel 3 delivers.

The price is almost half of that of the top flagship smartphones of 2019 without compromising performance or experience. It runs on the Android Pie OS with impressive cameras for a device of its price. The rear camera is a 12.2 MP, 22-mm wide dual pixel PDAF. You get the latest Google technology, including fast charging.

The 5.6-inch screen is smaller than most devices in this list, but the resolution and clarity are great.

5. Xiaomi Mi 9

The Chinese phone company has been making big waves in the smartphone industry, although it was a late entry. It’s latest launch, the Mi 9 is one of the fastest phones on the market in 2019.

The device offers an in-screen fingerprint sensor on its stunning display. It has a three-lens rear camera, which is a standard feature now. One of the cameras is a 48 MP lens, so users are assured beautiful photos. The Mi 9 is a mid-range budget device that promises and delivers above-average performance.

6. OPPO Reno 5G

5G is the next iteration of mobile internet technology and OPPO’s flagship, the Reno 5G has turned heads (for all the right reasons).

Sporting a 6.6-inch notch-free OLED screen, the OPPO Reno 5G has a pop-up 16MP camera and equally impressive rear cameras (3 in total). The Reno 5G offers 10x optical zoom. It also boasts a 4,065 mAh battery, a Snapdragon 855 processor, and 8GB of RAM.

7. Samsung Galaxy S10e

Samsung created the Galaxy S10e for people who wanted some of the features of the S10 Plus without its astronomical cost. The phone has the punch hole camera on the display but not the triple-lens setup at the back. One way the device is able to cost less than its siblings is with a smaller display.

At 5.6 inches, the screen size makes it possible to use the device with one hand. The phone doesn’t have the in-built fingerprint scanner, though. You can get the S10e in 128GB and 256GB configurations.

8. OnePlus 6T

If you are looking for a cheaper OnePlus flagship device, the 6T doesn’t disappoint. It costs slightly less than the 7 Pro and offers more than decent specs.

Running on an octa-core processor, the phone has an Optic AMOLED display with an in-screen finger sensor. The glass construction gives the device an elegant look. Its dual rear camera is better than most, but it doesn’t hold up to the competition from some of the flagships released this year.

The phone has a 3,000 mAh battery and fast charge technology.

9. iPhone XS Max

Apple devices are always prized acquisitions regardless of how long they have been on the market.

The iPhone XS Max came out in late 2018, but the exceptional performance and sleek design have kept it in the top ten lists of flagship devices to buy.

This phone comes with a 6.5-inch OLED display, which is huge by Apple standards hence, the ‘Max’ moniker. The latest iPhone offer greater battery life than its predecessors. Its stereo speakers rival every other smartphone currently available. The iPhone XS Max is among the most expensive devices on the market.

10. Honor View 20

Released in January 2019, the Honor View was among the first devices to use the punch hole design for the selfie camera, getting rid of the previously standard notch design. For this reason, you have more space to enjoy on the 6.4-inch display.

The phone has a captivating build with a curvy rear. This phone was stolen the bar for back-facing cameras by including the first ever 48 MP lens. It has an Ultra Clarity mode that ensures you get professional-grade pictures. The 4,000 mAh battery gives at least a day of use on a single charge.
